NOSTALGIA SPEC STORY
Nostalgia Spec was born from chasing the feeling of our childhood; fulfilling the one day I will’s and the naive dreams we had before anyone told us no.
Nostalgia is powerful
Maybe it was your friend’s dad.
Maybe it was the doctor down the street.
At some point, you saw a life you hoped you’d earn.
Then you grew up and realized most things today are built by committees, optimized for margins, stripped of soul.
So the only way forward is back.
Back to learning it the hard way.
Back to caring about craftsmanship.
Back to building things you can be proud of.
I chose to share that process with the world.
Along the way, I wanted gear that represented that mindset.
So we built it.
The Builder Behind Nostalgia Spec
Meet Chef Joni.

I didn’t grow up in exotic cars or race shops.
I grew up like most people - seeing things I hoped one day I’d earn.
In 2012, I moved to Arizona with two suitcases, determined to leave behind a life of being told no and living in scarcity.
What started as cooking videos on TikTok and a simple torch became something bigger — an obsession with chasing the dreams I carried as a kid. Buying the cars I used to stare at. Taking risks. Closing the distance between imagination and reality.
Nostalgia is powerful.
It’s the memory of standing in a parking lot, looking something you thought you might never touch.
It’s posters on bedroom walls.
Its the sandwich your mom use to make as a late night snack
It’s the stories you told yourself about who you might become.
For me, those memories became a blueprint.
They shaped every car I’ve chosen, every detail I obsess over, and every build I take on.
And now I’m finishing conversations I started with myself decades ago.
No trust fund.
No factory training.
Just curiosity, hard work, and the willingness to fail in public.
I buy cars people are afraid of.
I fix things I’ve never done before.
And I document the entire process so anyone chasing something similar can see it’s possible.
Nostalgia Spec is the result of that journey.
It’s what I wear in the garage, on the road, and while building the next chapter.
If you’re here, you’re probably building something too. Welcome
